What is cloud computing?
Cloud computing is the on-demand delivery of IT resources over the Internet with pay-as-you-go pricing. Instead of buying, owning, and maintaining physical data centers and servers, you can access technology services, such as computing power, storage, and databases, on an as-needed basis from a cloud provider like Amazon Web Services (AWS).
AWS Academy Introduction to Cloud: Semester 1 is an exploration of cloud computing. In this course, students explore cloud computing services, applications, and use cases. Students dive into cloud computing best practices and learn how cloud computing helps users develop a global infrastructure to support use cases at scale while also developing and inventing innovative technologies. This course provides students with classroom instruction that introduces cloud computing skills and accelerates students toward the next steps in their educational journey. The content of this course is aligned to the K–12 Computer Science Framework Practices including computational thinking. The seven core practices of computer science describe the behaviors and ways of thinking that computationally literate students use to fully engage in today’s data-rich and interconnected world.

AWS Academy Cloud Foundations is intended for students who seek an overall understanding of cloud computing concepts, independent of specific technical roles. It provides a detailed overview of cloud concepts, AWS core services, security, architecture, pricing, and support. This course helps you to prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (Links to an external site.) exam. Review the Certification Resources module for details about the exam.
